In 1987 she met the Indian monk Govindan-ji, a disciple of Mahatma Gandhi and devoted servant and personal masseur to Saint Vinoba Bhave. For fifteen years the maestro Govindan-ji personally taught her the art and science of Ayurvedic massage.
In 1990 Alida Dal Degan founded the first School of Massage and Foundations of Ayurvedic Medicine at the Italo-Indian institute in Turin. Teaching here beside her were Dr George T. Dharmarama (her yoga teacher) and Vaidya Chandrashekkar Ganesh Joshi from Poona, India.
She studied abroad many times in India and Sri Lanka.
In 1995 Alida founded the International Institute of Ayurvedic Studies Saraswati. Famous lecturers from the major European and Indian universities have collaborated in this teaching. Among them we mention: Prof. Gui Mazzars (Sorbonne) - Prof. Stefano Piano (Faculty of Literature and Philosophy of the University of Turin) -Prof.ssa Antonella Comba (University of Turin Department of Humanistic Studies - indology and Tibetology) - Dr. Navanish Prassad (University of Bangalore, India) - Dr.S.Sooraj (University of Trivandrum, Kerala India) - Dr. Saraswathy Mohan (Co-director of Sree Sankara Hospital, Kerala India) and last but not least the Yogacharya and Acharya Govindan-ji.
In 1997 she received acknowledgment from the Sree Sankara Hospital (Kerala – India) for the type of training she gave from the Yogacharya and Acharya Govindan-ji and for her work in promoting Ayurvedic massage and yoga.
In 2010 Alida establishes the association "Ayurveda Monaci Erranti" to teach Ayurveda accordingly to Govindan-ji teaching.
In 2012 Alida moved to Switzerland, in the Canton Ticino, where she also transferred the Association to continue, in this nation, with her teaching.
Alida also taught in the "Ayurvedic Point" and "Ananda Ashram" schools of Milan, In India at the Sree Sankara Hospital and in Katmanu at the Himalaya Ayurvedic laboratory.
Association Ayurveda Monaci Erranti proposed, in Switzerland, courses whose program is compliant with RME, the register of empiric medicine.
Alida has written many articles in the main specialist magazines and in the magazine “Domani” published in India for the Puducherry Ashram and has been consultant for the Italian television channel Rai Educational for “the culture of cures”.
One of her greatest commitments is to promote and spread the Ayurvedic massage of the wandering monks. This ancient art that was taught to her by the maestro Govindan-ji uses techniques and precepts that are different but complementary from those used in Ayurvedic clinics.
The editor“Il Punto di Incontro”,Italy, has published her book “Nel Cuore del Massagio Ayurvedico” (At the Heart of Ayurvedic Massage). An english version of the book, "At the Hart of Ayurvedic Massage" Ed. Lulo (USA), has also been published.
